Digital Signature Validation

Method 1

  1. Download and open the file in Acrobar Reader
  2. Right click on the ‘validity unknown’ icon and click on ‘Validate Signature’.
  3. You will get the signature validation status window, click on ‘Signature Properties’.
  4. Click on ‘Show Certificate..’
  5. Verify that there is a certification path named 'CCA India 2014'.
  6. This identifies CCA India as the owner of the digital certificate that has been used when signing the document.
  7. Mark the certification path named 'CCA India 2014', click the 'Trust' tab and then 'Add to Trusted Identities'.
  8. Answer 'OK' to any security question that follows.
  9. Check(Tick mark) the field for 'Use this certificate as a trusted root'
  10. Make sure "Use this certificate as trusted root" is checked
  11. If a warning pops up, click ok and click 'OK' twice to close this and the next window.
  12. Click 'Validate Signature' to execute the validation.
  13. Note: - Once 'CCA India 2014' has been as a Trusted Identity, any subsequent documents with digital signatures from CCA will be validated automatically when opened.
  14. It require internet to verify the digital sign certificate if internet is not there it will give u error in the digital signature sign box like VALIDITY UNKNOWN or INVALID SIGNATURE
  15. If u are using firewall like comodo please disable.

Method 2

  1. Download the file, Open in Acrobat Reader
  2. Open the Preferences dialog box (Edit > Preferences)
  3. Under Categories, select Signatures.
  4. For Identities & Trusted Certificates, click More.
  5. Select Digital IDs on the left.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • To import an ID, click the Add ID button , and follow the onscreen instructions.
    • To export a certificate, click the Export button , and follow the onscreen instructions to email or save the certificate to a file.
  7. To verify the AATL is enabled:
    1. Choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Acrobat / Acrobat Reader > Preferences.
    2. From the Categories on the left, select Trust Manager.
    3. Select the option Load Trusted Root Certificates From An Adobe Server.
    4. This option allows Acrobat or Reader to automatically download trust settings from an Adobe server.
    5. These trust settings ensure that the user or organization associated with the certificate has met the assurance levels of the Adobe Approved Trust List program.
    6. Do one of the following:
      • To be prompted when new root certificates are available from Adobe, select Ask Before Updating.
      • To download the latest version of the Trust List from Adobe, click Update Now.
